The historic centre of the city of Brescia is home to the rich and varied museum complex of Santa Giulia, based in the Benedictine convent of San Salvatore and Santa Giulia, founded in 753 B.C. by the Lombardian king Desiderio.
Reopened with a splendid new look after nearly a decade of restoration work, completed in 1998, the museum offers two paths to visitors: one based on the history of the museum itself, and the other, more general, divided into historic areas. In addition, there are various temporary exhibitions dedicated to individual artists and periods.
