In 1921, the poet Gabriele D'Annunzio settled in Gardone Riviera at what is now called 'Villa Cargnacco,' later transformed by the Vate (Umberto di Savoia) into the monumental complex of the Vittoriale.
The eclectic composition retains all the splendour of its origins, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in another world, practically merging into the thoughts and fantasies of the original Pescarese artist.
In this magic place, it is possible to admire the Priory, which was the personal residence of D'Annunzio, the light cruiser Puglia, the Mausoleum where the Vate is buried, and the M.A.S. vessel, historic cars, gardens, and Amphitheatre. Every year, during the summer season, this open-air theatre hosts numerous performances of prose, music and dance.
