In 1921, the poet Gabriele D’Annunzio settled in Gardone Riviera, in the then Villa Cargnacco, which he later transformed into the monumental complex of the Vittoriale degli Italiani.
This eclectic ensemble preserves the original charm and splendour intact, offering visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves in another world: a timeless universe, where the thoughts and visions of the artist from Pescara seem almost tangible.
Within this extraordinary site, visitors can admire the Prioria - D’Annunzio’s private residence - the Nave Puglia, the Mausoleum where he is laid to rest, as well as the M.A.S., vintage automobiles, monumental gardens, and the open-air amphitheatre, which during the summer season hosts theatre, music, and dance performances in a setting of rare beauty and evocative atmosphere.
